Wednesday, April 15 – “Three Came Home” is a true 1950 wartime film, based on the memoirs of the same name by writer Agnes Newton Keith. It depicts Keith’s life in North Borneo in the period immediately before the Japanese invasion in 1942, and her subsequent internment and suffering, separated from her husband Harry, and with a young son to care for. Keith was initially interned at Berhala Island near Sandakan, but spent most of her captivity at Batu Lintang camp at Kuching, Sarawak. This film stars Claudette Colbert, Florence Desmond and Patric Knowles. The New York Times reviewer said, “It will shock you, disturb you, tear your heart out. But it will fill you fully with a great respect for a heroic soul.” 106 min.

Wednesday, April 22 – “Three Amigos” is a 1986 comedy western film, which stars Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short star. The plot is set in the year 1916 when three prissy silent film actors are fired after they demand a higher salary for their popular “Three Amigos” western films. 105 min.

Wednesday, April 29 – “The Crimson Pirate” is a 1952 adventure film that stars Burt Lancaster (who also co-produced the film) as Captain Vallo, the eponymous pirate. The film set in the Caribbean late in the 18th century on the fictional islands of Cobra and San Pero. In the film, Captain Vallo, a pirate known as The Crimson Pirate, and his crew capture a ship of the King’s navy. 104 min.
