ILWACO – A resident of Ocean Park, Randy Buen, 56, died Dec. 9, 2008, in Ilwaco.

Born April 13, 1952, in Portland, he was the son of Victor and Muriel Buen. He grew up in the St. Johns neighborhood of North Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He was a self-employed scrap recycler and later worked as a welder and boilermaker.

Twenty years ago he moved to the Peninsula. He assisted his mother in her business and worked a variety of jobs locally. In past years he had traveled the world extensively where his personality introduced him to people from all walks of life.

Survivors include his mother, Muriel Buen of Nahcotta; a sister, Rose Crouchley; brothers, Richard, Ronald and Rodney; a son, Ryan; his former wife, Sheri and other members of his extended family.

Family and friends gathered Dec. 13, at Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea in Long Beach to celebrate his life and honor his memory.
