Obituaries: Everal Allen Housley

ST. HELENS, ORE. – Everal Allen Housley of St. Helens died July 24, 2007, at his home due to complications resulting from pulmonary fibrosis. He was 72. Mr. Housley was born June 19, 1935, in Indianola, Neb., to Herbert and Ada (Callan) Housley.

In 1947, at the age of 12, he moved with his family to St. Helens, Ore. After graduating from St. Helens High School in 1953, he enlisted in the National Guard where he served for six years.

On Feb. 11, 1955, he married Carolyn Milne. The couple enjoyed spending time together at their beach house in Ocean Park, a home that they started building weekends in the late 1960s.

Employed as a boilermaker in the fabrication department at Alcoa Aluminum in Longview, he retired in 1990.

Often found at the St. Helens Senior Center playing pool and swapping stories with his friends, he also relished the times he spent with close friend Jim Killens and his little buddy Austin, Jim’s grandson. Watching and supporting his grandchildren at their sporting events was his favorite activity. Among the other things he enjoyed were fishing, bird hunting, traveling and visiting with friends.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Housley of St. Helens; daughters Tracie Murray and her husband Rich of St. Helens and Sheryl Loncosky and her husband Lloyd of Columbia City, Ore.; grandchildren, Kyle Murray of St. Helens, Leah Murray of St. Helens, Kevin Loncosky of Mayville, N.D. and Lisa Loncosky of St. Helens, Ore.; his sister, Linda Housley and a nephew Patrick Housley both of St. Helens. His brother Floyd preceded him in death.

No funeral services will be held per his request. Cremated remains will be spread during a private family ceremony. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Helens Senior Center.
