LONG BEACH – Tilmon J. Albert, 75, died Aug. 27, 2007, at his Long Beach residence. He was born Nov. 7, 1931, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Xavier and Alice (Leblanc) Albert. He grew up on the family farm where at an early age learned the value of hard work.

At age 16 he left the farm and moved to Montreal where he worked in a sugar factory and taught himself to read and write English, having come from a French speaking family. He attended school and learned the skills of a millwright.

His working career spanned the entire Canadian landscape. He worked in mills and factories, the Alberta tar fields, on construction, defense and mining projects in the far north. He was a skilled worker who always gave his best on any job.

He and Suzanne Trudel were married in 1957 and later divorced. In 1980 while visiting family on the Peninsula he met Marilyn Hall and they were married the following year. For the ensuing five years they lived in Montreal, returning to Long Beach in 1987.

Mr. Albert enjoyed his retirement years at the coast. He often found items on the beach took them home and repaired them. He literally could fix anything, from complex industrial machinery to home appliances. Over the years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling throughout the United States and Canada. He especially enjoyed visiting Florida. He was a kind, generous and hardworking man. He had a unique way with animals, wild or domesticated, and was able to make friends with them whether they were four legged or winged.

Survivors include his wife Marilyn of Long Beach; daughters Michelle Albert and Chantal Albert both of Montreal; stepchildren Brent Hall of Chugiak, Alaska and Judy Dettwyler of Mollala, Ore.; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; brothers Roger Albert of Calgary, Canada and Laurie Albert of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister Yvonne Gildart of Moncton, Canada.

At his request, no service will be held. Cremation arrangements are by Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
