Regarding editorial: “Beware Texans bearing gifts” –
In response to the editorial on Aug. 29, I am so glad someone else noticed the underhanded way the LNG monsters are ensuring their way onto our beautiful Northwest habitat. I have family in Coos Bay and was awfully glad my husband and I had moved here already when I heard about how the towns there were so happy to let the LNG in to their port. They were taken in with the promise of “hundreds of new jobs, cleaner water, and better habitat.” Yeah, right!
If everyone would take the time to study what happens on other coastlines when something does “go wrong occasionally” they would surely change their minds quickly. And what about the “hundreds of jobs” opening up? Well, that will never amount to much. After all, how many scientists or LNG professionals are actually looking for jobs in our town? We already have custodian jobs and fast food work here. Plus, a beautiful environment in which to live.
Also, concerning the letter headlined “Most people don’t know herbicide’s worrisome details – Dr. Warren Potter: Thank you. Finally, an answer I wasn’t qualified to give, but did want to. We, as a planet, definately need to quit running to poisons to try to create a quick fix to the problem and look into why the problem exists, and how can we reverse the damage? Also, always ask yourselves how a poison, by any name, can ever be completely safe for animals or humans!
