Lum’s plans July 5 ground breaking

WARRENTON – After 38 years in Astoria, Lum’s Auto Center will be relocating to Warrenton, Ore.
The ground breaking ceremony, which will be held Thursday, July 5, at 3:30 p.m., at the corner of Dolphin Lane and Alternate Highway 101 in Warrenton, will mark the move of Lum’s Auto Center to a new auto facility
The new auto facility will expand to 36,000 square feet across from the new Home Depot. This auto facility will be the largest and most modern auto dealership on the Oregon coast. Warrenton Mayor Gil Gramson, Astoria/Warrenton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Skip Hauke and Toyota representatives will make brief remarks. Refreshments will be served. Attendance is open to the public. During this time Lum’s Auto Center will be closed for all employees to attend this momentous occasion.
In 1969, native Astorian David Lum and his wife Shirley began selling Toyotas. Over the years he has acquired Scion, Pontiac, GMC, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge. Lum’s Auto Center is a full-service dealership selling new and used vehicles and includes a full service parts and service center. Daughters Julie Lum and Lori Lum Toyooka currently run the dealership.
Lum’s Auto Center employs 43 full time employees and will be expanding in the future to accommodate the new facility. The new facility will have a state of the art parts and service center with express lube facilities, sales, car rentals, kids play area, automated car wash system, coffee café for customers and plenty of customer parking. The dealership is expected to open in spring of 2008.
