RAYMOND – In a meet that could be billed as a “semi-preview” of the subdistrict 2B meet which Raymond will host in May, the Naselle Comets boys and girls track teams each finished fourth in their parts of the meet held in Raymond Thursday, March 29, according to the official home scorebook. However, the statistics kept by the Naselle scorekeepers do not agree with the official book.

The South Bend boys won the boys title to beat runners-up Northwest Christian and Tacoma Baptist. Northwest Christian was a decisive winner in the girls meet, far ahead of second place Morton. The Naselle boys scored 61.5 points to finish in a tie for sixth while the Naselle girls scored 85 points, for a third place finish, according to the Naselle statistics. The official scorebook read as follows: South Bend 142, Northwest Christian 132, Tacoma Baptist 86, Naselle 84, Willapa Valley 80, Pe Ell 65, Raymond 38, North River 20, Morton 17.

The Comets next track action doesn’t come until after the spring break with some of the Comets tentatively scheduled to perform in the Daily Astorian Invitational Meet on April 9. The Comets host a home meet on Thursday, April 12, with South Bend, Tacoma Baptist, and Ocosta slated to take part.
