Heritage Museum changes hours through February

ILWACO – The Ilwaco Heritage Museum is changing its business hours for a short period of time. Continuing through the end of February the Museum exhibits and gift shop will be closed Tuesday through Thursday except by appointment. The Museum will be open as usual Friday through Monday for visitors.

During this closure time, volunteers are needed to help Museum staff with documenting and housing collections items that have been in storage during the remodel of the Mike Kabush Collections Building. It is a perfect volunteer opportunity as the hours are flexible and short term. Now that the facility is climate controlled and new storage units have been installed it is vital to get the artifacts back in a safe and secure environment. Volunteers will be trained on how to handle and document the artifacts.

Staff and volunteers will still be working everyday so they will be available to answer phones, make appointments, arrange group tours for the exhibits, schedule events and answer questions. Call 642-3446 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

There is a wonderful new exhibit, “Time: The Fourth Dimension,” which documents significant periods of time which show the changing face of the Columbia-Pacific region. It is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
