Obituaries: Christopher Wayne Packer

LONG BEACH – Christopher W. Packer, 33, died Sept. 27, 2006, at his Long Beach residence. The son of Thomas and Debra Packer, he was born Feb. 21, 1973, in Portland, Ore.

Shortly after he was born the family moved to Fort Carson, Colo. In 1974 he returned to Portland. Mr. Packer lived in Fort Lewis, in Germany for five years and in Hawaii until returning to Portland in 1985. He moved to Long Beach in March 2005.

He obtained his GED at age 16 and joined the Job Corps where he was certified in building maintenance in 1991.

Survivors include his mother Debra Green Adams of Long Beach; father Thomas Packer; brother Jason Packer; sister Heather Packer and Tiffany Olney; daughter Bridgette Packer; niece Ashley Packer; grandmother Earlene Chapin; and other members of his extended family.

A memorial service was held at the Long Beach Church of Latter-Day Saints on Oct. 3. A memorial service will be held later in Portland. Remembrances may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, P.O. Box 417, Long Beach, WA 98631.
