‘Oysterville Days’

Low-key, old-fashioned fun will be the focus of “Oysterville Days” scheduled for the last weekend of July in the quaint National Historic District of Oysterville.

Demonstrations of traditional crafts, such as spinning, soap making, quilting, and blacksmithing will take place on Saturday, along with music, square-dancing, and games for children. Streets within the bayside village will be open to pedestrian traffic only, helping to recreate the look and feel of Oysterville during the 1800s.

The public is encouraged to participate by attending in costume and bringing a picnic lunch to share with friends and family. Food and beverages will be also available at the event.

In keeping with the historic character of the celebration, the Vespers service at the historic Oysterville Church on Sunday, July 31, will feature old-fashioned hymns and traditional music.

Sponsors of the event, the Oysterville Community Club, are patterning “Oysterville Days” on last year’s popular Sesquicentennial Celebration in Oysterville. The plan is to hold “Oysterville Days” every other year in the future, alternating years with the Finn Fest of Naselle.
