Letter: PACE making change in order to meet meal demands
Published 4:00 pm Tuesday, December 21, 2004
PACE Nutrition will be delivering hot meals to home bound seniors in Pacific County on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; while providing frozen meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This service change will begin on Jan. 1, 2005. Presently, weekends and holiday will continue to be covered by our current frozen meal program, with no changes in service at this time.
Our staff and executive board believes this change in the meal service will enhance our clients’ experience by promoting choice, through type of frozen meal provided and when to consume the meal. All meals are nutritionally complete according to our contract with Olympia Area Agency on Aging (O3A), as well as our registered dietitian who oversees our program.
Our congregate service will continue at its present rate, by offering hot meals in our dining rooms, five days a week (Mondays through Fridays). So if you know of any seniors, 60 years or older, needing a meal, who are capable of coming into our dining rooms, there is still the opportunity to have a hot meal.
The cost for the client to participate in our meal programs is minimal. We ask for a $3 suggested donation for each meal provided, whether in our dining rooms or in their homes. As we say, it is a donation, so it is what the client can afford to order to participate in our services.
PACE Nutrition has been offering hot meal service for 28 years, and will continue to do so. This change in delivery of service is necessary to keep up with the increasing demands for our home-delivered meal program.
If you have questions or need more information, please feel free to call 642-3378 or contact our PACE Nutrition sites at (360) 942-5739, Raymond; or 642-3378, Ilwaco.
