Letter: Dr. Lewis Neace was truly a healer

So many people in our area and beyond have been affected by Dr. Nease.
He epitomized the caring and concern of a county doctor. He went above and beyond what was required. Yet, he always seemed to be relaxed and affable, despite long hours and hard work. He was always glad to see each and every one of his patients and took the time needed to assuage any fears or concerns that they may have. He was our Doctor Nease. And, somehow we thought he would always be there. It never crossed our minds that he might get older or that maybe, just maybe, he might get tired. We all depended on him. It never occurred to us that we wouldn’t see him out for his walk and be greeted by a “Hello, dearie. How’re you doin’ today?”
Dr. Nease was a fine man. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for his long years of service to our community. He gave without question. He was more than a doctor. He was truly a healer. He didn’t just take care of physical ills – he walked right into our hearts and touched our souls. He will be missed.
