SEAVIEW – Autumn is here with winter on the horizon: time to burrow in for an evening of fascinating and enriching historical perspective relevant to our aquatic and Native American heritage.

On Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m., the Sou’wester Lodge in Seaview, presents its next T’ink Tank. Llyn De Danaan, Ph.D., author, historian and writer will lead a presentation and discussion on her latest non-fiction work, “Katie Gale’s Tombstone.”

Tombstone focuses on the life of Katie Gale, a late-19th century Indian oyster grower in the southern Puget Sound. De Danaan will discuss her work as an anthropologist and historian tracing Gale’s history and reconstructing elements of her life.

De Danaan acquired her Ph.D. at Union Institute and is a professor emerita on the faculty at Evergreen State College. She has been honored by the Washington State Historical Society who awarded her their Peace and Freedom award. She is a research consultant to several Indian tribes. In addition she is a consultant on social studies curricula and is the author of numerous works of fiction and satire. These include “Conversations with the Inner Dog” and “Koans for the Inner Dog.”

Everyone is welcome to this casual get-together. As always, questions and comments from the participants are encouraged. Complimentary refreshments are provided. Admission is free. A donation of food for the needy is appreciated, but not obligatory. Because of limited seating, advance reservations are advised.
