Walter Henry Grimmick

PORTLAND – Walter Henry Grimmick, 81, formerly of Waterford, N.Y. died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at Oregon Health & Science University Hospital in Portland. Born and educated in Troy, N.Y., he was son of the late William and Anna McGraw Grimmick. He had moved to Washington 15 years ago.

A truck driver, Mr. Grimmick had been employed for 20 years at the Grand Union Company in Waterford and retired in 1987. Prior to that he was employed at Mintzer Petroleum in Troy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Aircorp and served during World War II with the 101st Airborne Division. He was a charter member of the Troy Rod and Gun Club. While a resident of Waterford he was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.

Survivors include wife Barbara Lampartet Grimmick of Long Beach; children: Sharon Ann Brazell and husband Daniel of Clifton Park, N.Y., Daniel W. Grimmick and wife Noreen of Clifton Park, N.Y., and Kim Shepard and her husband Paul of Newtonville, N.Y.; brothers John Grimmick of Troy, N.Y., twin Henry Walter Grimmick of Schaghticoke, N.Y., seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 25 at 8:30 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford, N.Y. and at 9 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
