Strange end to Comets softball season; blowouts for and against them

Taholah goes to town on Comets, 15-0TAHOLAH – The Naselle Comets softball team had two completely opposite outings a week ago during the final games of their season.

The Comets traveled to Taholah on Thursday, where they encountered a long first inning. Marijane Mobley allowed 13 Taholah runs in the first inning and 15 by the third to have the game called.

The Comets played to a 10-10 tie in the second a game, which was called due to time constraints.

Comets score 40 runs in DH sweepNASELLE – Next up was Quinault in two home league games. The Comets had to win both to assure themselves of a place in the district tournament. The Comets played well, as Mobley not only pitched well but went 7 for 7 with 5 triples. NHS won the first game 20-5 in three innings and played several players who usually don’t start in game two, winning 20-10 in 5 innings. Brittanie Vaughn went 6 for 6 in the double header.

“It was a great win for our team after our disappointing trip to Taholah,” said coach Chris Clark.

The Comets lost at Oakville 19-9 on in their last league game of season on Wednesday, May 5. No other details were available at press time.
