NASELLE – The community-based Naselle Trails Steering Committee has been meeting regularly with the Department of Transportation since November 2001 to monitor the progress of the Alternative Trail Study.

The DOT internally assembled a project team to do the trail study. The results will evaluate the options for trail construction and configuration, estimate costs, explore phasing options, evaluate the environmental challenges and requirements and explore funding options to establish pedestrian/bike trails in Naselle.

The Naselle Chamber of Commerce, Dept. of Transportation and Pacific County have been apprised of the progress of this proposal. On Feb. 27, district representative Dena Horton for Rep. Brian Baird was in Naselle to attend a trail informational meeting. A representative from DOT and the Steering Committee was also in attendance.

The purpose was to present the ped/bike trail concept for review and discussion. The concept received positive feedback from Horton. The Trail Study will be completed in the summer of 2004. DOT will then present the Trail Study to the Steering Committee. Community presentation will follow.
