Local tracksters compete in All-Comer’s meet in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – Four local runners participated in the annual All-Comer’s track meet held by the Oregon Track Club on the famous Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

Upcoming Ilwaco High School seniors Garrett Binion and Derek Duffy set personal records in their running events. Binion ran a 2:04 in the 800 and Duffy completed the 1500 in 4:32. Binion also long-jumped an impressive 18 feet 6 inches.

Nate Appel, a 2003 IHS graduate, completed the 1500 in 4:15 and the 800 in 2:04. Former IHS runner Mike Anderson also competed in the 1500, finishing in 4:32.

Appel, Binion, Duffy and former Taft High School runner Larry McGlocklen from Lincoln City combined their efforts to win the 4×400 meter relay in a time of 3:39.
