PACIFIC COUNTY – Until further notice, a burn ban has been put into effect by the South Pacific County Fire Chief’s Association due to high fire danger within the boundaries of Pacific County Fire District No. 1, Pacific County Fire District No. 2 (Chinook), the city of Ilwaco and the city of Long Beach.

This ban prohibits all open outdoor burning with the exception of recreational fires in approved fire pits and in designated campgrounds. “Recreational fire” means barbecues and campfires, using charcoal, natural gas, propane or natural wood. Fires used for debris disposal purposes are not considered recreational fires.
Beach campfires are also still permitted as long as they are at least 100 feet west of the dune grass.
If dry conditions continue, it may become necessary to ban all open outdoor burning, which will include recreational and beach fires. To determine the status of the burn ban, please call the burn information line at 665-3508 or confirm whether or not it is a burn day.
