LONG BEACH – “No better way to spend a rainy day” was the reaction of some of the folks on Saturday, April 5, when 44 people gathered at Peninsula Golf Course to show their support for a local Ocean Park family.

The Diane Phillips Benefit Golf Tournament was put on by Jim Maggs and Wayne Curran to help out Woody and Diane Phillips. Last fall Diane suffered a brain aneurysm that came as a shock to all. Woody is from W&E Construction, a local construction company.

Between entry fees, raffle tickets and cash donations the tournament was able to raise a good deal of money for the Phillips’ to go toward their medical bills. The overwhelming support and response from local businesses was really what made this tournament a success. Along with 18 holes of golf, the participants were welcomed back at the clubhouse with burgers and hotdogs. The food was also donated by local businesses.

A big thank you goes out to all that participated and donated to the benefit. Any further donations can be made to the Diane Phillips Benefit at the Great Northwest Federal Credit Union.
