OCEAN PARK – Matthew C. Bellinger from Ocean Park has been named a U.S. National Award Winner in history and government.

The criteria for selection is based on the student’s academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, as well as the recommendation from a teacher or director. Matthew was nominated for this national award by Mr. Randall Bloom a teacher at Ilwaco Jr./Sr. High School.

This award is a prestigious honor that fewer than 10 percent of all American high school students attain.

Bellinger is the son of Steve and Jeanne Bellinger from Ocean Park. His grandparents are Donn and Laura Smith also from Ocean Park and Shirley Bellinger of Vancouver.
