NASELLE – The Naselle-area Babe Ruth baseball program for 13 to 15 year olds is in danger of folding up. It needs more players!

Coach Regan Wirkkala said the program currently only has nine players turning out and they need a few more to have a reserve of substitutes when illness or other circumstances prevent a player from taking part.

All boys who are between the ages of 13 and 15, and do not turn 16 before July 31, are eligible to take part. The cost for a player to participate is $30, but no player will be turned away because of a shortage of money. Wirkkala also said that equipment, such as shoes and gloves, may be available so no player should need to worry about those pieces of equipment.

Interested athletes or their parents are asked to call Regan Wirkkala at 484-3197 or be at the Naselle Lions Park on Saturday, April 12, at 3 p.m. for the next turnout.

The team will play its first game on Saturday, April 26. Most of the team’s games will be played in the Raymond area with about one-third of the games to be played on the Naselle Lions Club field.
