Alexa Wirkkala

BELLEVUE – Alexa Wirkkala of Chinook claimed fifth place in the 8 to 9 age bracket at the Washington State Elks Hoop Shoot competition in Bellevue Saturday. Wirkkala sank 14 of 25 tries, but could not catch the state winner who made 19 free throws.

Wirkkala was joined by her parents, family, and friends at the state-wide competition in Bellevue. Ironically, the gymnasium where the event was held is called Chinook Middle School. Wirkkala is a fourth-grader in the Ocean Beach School District.

WSU Honor Roll

PULLMAN – The following Peninsula students at Washington State University were listed on the fall 2002 Honor Roll. To be eligible for the honor roll, students must have a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average or have received a 3.75 GPA or better during the fall semester.
