MONTESANO – Hunters and others interested in game management on the Olympic Peninsula and southern Puget Sound will get an opportunity to review proposed state hunting rules for 2003-05 before a final plan is adopted in April.

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) has scheduled a special meeting for Saturday, Feb. 22 in Shelton to discuss “preferred options” for regional hunting rules before making final recommendations to the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission.

The meeting will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of Public Utility District No. 3 at West Cota and Third Street in Shelton.

Jack Smith, regional WDFW wildlife manager, said the meeting in Shelton is designed to follow up on meetings held throughout the state last month to discuss proposed hunting rules for the next three-year cycle. Meetings held in Fife and Aberdeen drew more than 150 people.
