Barbara Joanne Leiss

OCEAN PARK – Ocean Park resident Barbara Joanne Leiss died Feb. 10, 2003 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland, Ore., at the age of 67. The daughter of Albert and Eleanor (Kennedy) Alberti, she was born Sept. 11, 1935 in Independence, Mo.

In 1952 the family moved to Washington state. Mrs. Leiss graduated from high school in Bellevue, and then attended college for one year. She was employed by Peoples Bank in Seattle, and later with U.S. Bank as an auditor until her retirement in 1995.

She married Robert J. Leiss in January of 1970 and they made their home in Kirkland. The couple had a vacation home in Ocean Park and after retirement in 1995 made it their permanent home.

Mrs. Leiss enjoyed her home and loved living in a small town at the beach. Her hobbies included gardening and many types of crafts. She loved working with stained glass and quilting. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Saturday Teddy Bear Group in Ocean Park.

Survivors include her husband Robert at home in Ocean Park; daughters Missy Coale of Kirkland and Sharon Holt of North Carolina; sons James Dir of Everett, Al Dir of Start Up, and six grandchildren.

Private cremation has been held. No public service is scheduled. Arrangements by Penttila’s Chapel by The Sea, Long Beach.
