PENINSULA – Registration is underway for the Peninsula Youth Baseball Program, which includes both baseball and T-ball for children up to 12 years old.
You can register your child for either baseball or T-ball in one of two ways: Sign up in person on Saturday, Feb. 22, starting at 10 a.m. at Stanley Field in Long Beach, or mail a completed registration with fees to Peninsula Youth Baseball, P.O. Box 268, Ilwaco, WA 98624.
The registration deadline for baseball is Feb. 22. The T-Ball registration deadline is March 7.
Registration forms have been sent home with kids at their schools. The registration fee for either baseball and T-ball is $30 for the first child or $50 total for two or more children from the same family.
All youth who want to play on either an AAA or Majors baseball team need to attend one of two mandatory tryouts. Youth playing on a Minor baseball team do not need to try-out – just register before the deadline.
The baseball tryout dates and times are as follows: Saturday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, March 1. Players 8 to 10 years old will tryout from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Players 11 and 12 years old will tryout from 11 a.m. to noon.
Also, the Peninsula Youth Baseball Program is starting a girls softball program in conjunction with the Astoria Parks and Recreation League. This program will start in May and run through July. Teams will compete with other girls softball teams from Astoria, Warrenton, Lewis, Clark, Knappa and Naselle. The teams will be organized as follows: Third/fourth-grades; fifth/sixth-grades; and seventh-ninth-grades. Registration forms will be distributed through the schools in April.
