Charles J. Peterson

“Charles J. Peterson, 73, pioneer in the oyster business on this coast and long-time resident of Nahcotta passed away in Ocean View Rest Home last Friday, September 14th, following a number of years of failing health.

“Mr. Peterson was born in Morby Langa, Sweden, on December 23, 1882, received his education in Sweden, and then came to United States in 1897, arriving in San Francisco where he worked for the Morgan Oyster Co., and was later sent by the company into this Northwest area where he managed the company’s oyster interests at Bay Center.

“Later on he purchased the Morehead & Co. store at Ocean Park from Henry Brown and was interested in the business for 27 years having Torvald Trondsen as a partner, and operated the business under the firm name of Trondsen-Peterson; the store was sold last spring to Jack Henrichsen.

“Mr. Peterson was a life-long member of the Lutheran church, and was married to Enola Morehead in 1914 at Nahcotta. He is survived by his wife at Nahcotta, two daughters, Mrs. Robert Coddington of Spokane [and] Mrs. James Kissner of Palatine, Ill.”
