The Fishermen racked up scrimmage victories over George Washingon (4A) of San Francisco, and Oregon 3A competitors, Scappoose, and Lebanon. On the final day, the Fishermen ended up fourth out of 11 teams. Ilwaco was the smallest school (301); next smallest was Scappoose (775).
Ilwaco scored victories over highly favored Capital of Olympia (13-12)and Lebanon (21-6). They lost a squeaker in the final minutes to Scappoose (14-13) which decided third and fourth place finishers.
The junior high Fishermen also played well, with Jamieson dominating at noseguard. Hawkinson came up with the biggest hit award, leveling the opposing tailback.
